Larry Hightower's Great Grandaughter and family visit KXLE 95.3 Ellensburg, WA radio station. Upon Larry's return from his wheelbarrow trip, Larry had a radio show for a short time in Ellensburg, WA at KXLE. If anyone has information about this radio station's history, especially between 1946 and 1951, I would love to hear from you.

Places in History Larry worked still around today

In 1946 U.S. Directory "Larry" Lawrence M. Hightower is a restaraunt worker at the Palace Cafe in Ellensburg, WA located at 323 Main Street, under the owner Ted Wicks. Larry must have been sponsored by the Palace Cafe on his wheelbarrow trip around the world, because painted on the wheel of his famous wheelbarrow is the Palace Cafe.

Visit the Palace Cafe website at Larry also worked as a Ranch Hand before and during 1946 at the Lazy F Ranch in Ellensburg, WA. On the 4th of July 1946 Larry left Ellensburg, WA on a wheelbarrow journey around the world as the Washington State Goodwill Ambassador, traveling on foot pushing his famous wheelbarrow. Upon Larry's return to Ellensburg on his birthday 16 November 1950 Larry was the Star of a parade and Ceremonies for his world record wheelbarrowing accomplishments around the world over 28,000 miles in all of the States, Canada, Mexico and Guatemala.
